Blue Moon - 77

Hello and Welcome

Day 77 of my 365 day Photography Journey.

The Blue as seen below doesn't exist.

I posted this on Facebook to see who would comment on the blue moon. I received two comments from family, with only one stating it wasn't that color at her place. It made me laugh. Why? Well, the moon, as seen above, doesn't exist this color anywhere else other then the mind of a man who can manipulate photos. I took the photo tonight but changed it's color some and posted it.

A "Blue Moon," is the second full moon that occurs in one month. If you didn't know the term "Once in a blue moon," is used because blue moons don't happen very often. My mom use to say she'd get around to it at the next Blue Moon. The next blue moon won't happen until July 31, 2015.

There is some controversy over the term "Blue Moon." The Farmer's Almanac defines it as the third full moon in a four full moon season, i.e. winter, summer, fall, spring. Blue Moon Lore

Ah, the surf - 76

Hello and Welcome.

Day 76 of my 365 Day Photography Journey.

I absolutely love the ocean, beach and surf. I've been a water baby my whole life. I'd go to the beach with friends and rarely get out of the water, even if the temperature was in the very low 60's. Have boogie board and will surf.

Pictures of some surfers enjoying a beautiful day, with 70 degree water temp, "Heaven."

The Field - 75

Hello and Welcome.

Day 75 of my 365 Day Photography Journey.

The Field.

The Field

It's not a beautiful meadow, a well manicured park, it's just a typical desert field but don't tell Prince this. Every morning, evening, after our run, when I drive home or when I'm leaving, Prince stands at the gate waiting for the command. "Go!!!"

Prince with a ball in his mouth coming back from "The Field."
Normally, Prince hits the field at full speed looking for a resting bunny, cat or bird to chase out of his field. Don't worry no, and I repeat no, bunny, cat or bird has ever been hurt by this wonderful dog. He's chased and chased but to no avail. It's about the chase. Now that I think about it, I believe it's always been about the chase. I'm not sure he'd know what to do it he ever caught one.

The entry to the field.
Prince is going on 5 years old in November and I don't remember the first day he took off into the field. I don't remember how it even became an event.

As I'd walk to the gate for whatever reason, Prince would be there thinking it's field time. He'll sit or stand at the entrance and look at me, beg a little or a lot in hope's of me saying that magic word. "Go!" I try to let him go if I have time to wait for him to make his 3-4 minute field pass, but sometimes he just doesn't get to, "Go!"

Prince and the ball, after a 2.5 miles run/walk, 1 field pass and 3 field ball chases. He's tired.

He's a great dog!!! Or as they say in "Snatch," Dag! D'ya like dags?

Make a great day, it may be your last.

Kayla's Birthday Celebration - 74

Hello and Welcome.

Day 74 of my 365 Day Photography Journey.

Happy Birthday Kayla, you Rock!!!

We celebrated the wonderful person, Kayla Leppelman, who's married to my wonderful oldest son and most importantly the mother of the most amazing Grandson in the World, Levi, today at Los Domingos. Was that to much? It was a surprise, at least I think it was. She's pretty smart. She probably knew something was up.

We also celebrated the last day of Los Domingos at this location. They were getting ready to start their move, which was to start after we left. 8-)

I just uploaded pictures of Kayla because it's her day, and I didn't want to hear from everyone about how they looked. "Oh my goodness. Delete that photo!" You know how it is.

I now know where Levi gets his many expressions!!!

I debated whether I should identify them or let you. I'll let you.

Make a great day, or a great person's day!

Posts & Paths - 73

Hello and Welcome.

Day 73 of my 365 Day Photography Journey.

I'm not sure what it is that makes images of posts and paths so interesting to me. I'm sure there is some philosophical reasons to be attracted to them. I can think of some good photography rules for using them. But I've liked these type of images for as long as I can remember.

Lightroom Practice in High Contrast - 71

Hello and Welcome.

Day 71 of my 365 Day Photography Journey.

My study book is Lightroom 4 book for digital photographers, by Scott Kelby. It's a good book. I'm learning quit a bit.

Today I practiced creating high contrast, high texture photos. I've shown two below, before and afters.

Why do I still have these glasses?

Hello and Welcome.

Day 70 of my 365 Day Photography Journey.

I went to pull out an old mechanical pencil from the catch all drawer and found these: old glasses. I asked myself, "Self, why do you still have these?" I tried them on and they fit, but I wasn't able to see any better then without them. So, why do I keep them? I thought some time back that since I paid $200 for designer frames I'd just get the lenses to fit my expensive frames and beat the system. They charge more for cutting lenses for designer glasses then they would just buying a new pair of frames. And I still kept them. I didn't grow up in the depression, which might explain why I might not throw them away. I can get a new prescription and glasses for under $75 now, and yet I keep them. Maybe I'm reminded that the doctor didn't mess up and I really needed a new prescription. Maybe I think about that Twilight Zone episode, were the world was destroyed, save one man who, never had enough time to read books because so many of life's interruptions, hid in a bank vault and found himself sitting on the steps of the library, with stacks of books sorted by the year he was going to read them. As he was jumping with glee over the thought of no interruptions during his book reading time, his glasses fell off his face and broke. He was completely blind without them.

If this happened to me, my old glasses would still be of no use to me. And yet, I keep them. Look at them, they have so many scratches. I don't think I could get the sun to focus enough rays to start a fire, they are so messed up. But yet, I keep them.

Here they are.

I'll most likely throw them away tomorrow!

Make a great day.

10 miles down, 90 to go!

Hello and Welcome.

Day 69 of my 365 Day Photography Journey.

Well today was my deadline to hit 10 miles with my new shoes. Success!! The first 100 miles starts with 10, right?

10 Miles on these bad boys!
Below are my miles and times. The last one is short because I didn't realize that the GPS was off. It's the same walk as Yesterday, the 2.47 mile.

They both have 10 miles by the way!
The next time I post about these shoes will be Oct 24, 2012

Miniatures?

Hello and Welcome.

Day 68 of my 365 Day Photography Journey.

I picked up a new filter and of course had to try it out. It gave me an unexpected look. What do you think?

I don't like the composition but I love the affect of the filter. These have a miniature look to them.

Make a great day.
