When was the last time you visited LA!

Hello!

Day 14 of my 365 day photography journey

Los Angeles!

Los Angeles City Hall
Hello,

Today was spent hitting the streets. I have so many pictures that I want to publish but I don't want to throw pictures into the blog for the blog's sake.

I'm going to restrain and show what I've had to time to look at and evaluate versus show all 300+ photos.

Amine Expo 2012, Who are these people?

Hello!

Day 13 of my 365 Day photography journey

Guess where I am?

I've had the privilege of taking Chelsea and her friends to Anime Expo in Los Angeles this weekend. One guess what type of photos I'm going to post.

Oh and I broke my primary lens for this type of photography before we arrived. Good news I was able to fix it using superglue!! Woot!

I only knew a handful of the characters at the expo. Characters from games like Zelda, Mario Bros, and League of Legends. The characters are either from Manga, Anime Movies or Shows and Games for the most part. It probably makes me a geek for even knowing just a handful. It has been interesting to say the least. I won't even talk about some of the weirdest kids, grown men and women at the event. Most were very entertaining and creative. See the images below.

It's best described as a huge Halloween Party, in June. There are some amazing artists here as well.

A change of view

Did you make a great day?

Day 12 of my 365 day photography journey

I was reading about composition in photography and the rules (general) that come into composing a good image.

The light was fading fast and I needed some photo's so I decided to view the world from an ant's perspective. With the low light I decided to rest the camera on the ground and click away.

I wonder want the human equivalent to an ant moving 100 feet.

This is a good piece the road in front of my house.

Cracks like these are equivalent to 20' walls to us people. The brick planter is close to 400-500 foot cliff and ants just scurry up it like it's eez peez.

Look at the size of those paws. Can you imagine being an ant and dealing with this beast. Let alone a burglar.

I'm going to be in LA for the next four days. I'm hoping I'll be able to get on everyday and blog. I'm be photographing LA everyday so I'll have good material when I'm able to sit down and write.

Make a great day.

The Joy of being a Grandpa

Hello!

Day 10 of my 365 day photography journey

This is my photo blog for the day. I took this with my iPhone.

I got the opportunity to watch my grandson while his mommy went to nursing school. His name is Levi, and he's 6 months old. He's super smart like his parents and grandpa, of course. He's getting so big. He smiles all the time. This walker was bought for him by Miss Lee. Levi has mastered the art of moving backwards, forwards, not so much. Although, when Prince would come into the room, Levi would perk up and lean forward towards the dog and magically move forward. This only happened once. What is it about kids and animals, even at such a young age? They get so excited to see them. The walker is definitely a hit.

He ate apple-cherry baby food and then squash. He got fussy eating the squash so I put him in my lap to feed him. He would eat and then drink some water and eat again. Then I noticed he wasn't moving in my arms. I looked down and he had fallen asleep in grandpas arms. He still had food on his face but I wasn't going to wake him. I laid him on the sleeping bag and he stayed out till mommy came to pick him up, messy face and all.

Thanks for letting me watch the little genius.

Hot Trail

Hello!

Day 9 of my 365 day photography journey

Today was a beautiful day. Cool breeze, clear sky and low 80's temperature. I submitted 4 applications for jobs with communication companies, looking to get a technical position. I needed to get out of the house.

Originally I thought about heading to the mountains when I remembered the Deep Creek Trail, which is about 10 minutes away from the house and has water along the trail to allow Prince to get his paws wet. Deep Creek runs parallel to the Pacific Crest Trail for about 12 miles. The Pacific Crest Trail runs from Mexico to Canada along the Pacific Rim. It's the desert but the creek really helps cool things down.

Rule #1, always bring your camera and Rule #2, shoot, shoot, shoot. Even though the sun was high and sharp which isn't really the good for generating good color in photos I always take my camera and shoot, shoot, shoot. These photos aren't very artist but they still tell a story.

I used my 18-105mm lens with a polarized lens. The polarize lens really adds color to sky and foliage when set properly.

My first photo after parking.

The picture to the right is a good example of what a polarized lens can do to enhance colors. The picture below also shows the sharp color of the lens. The picture below is the trail. I really enjoy taking trail photos. Trail photos lead the viewer to wonder what's around the corner, what adventure will this lead me too? The photo below is a path but it's not a clear path. But, like the path photo below not all paths in life are clear.

The black and white below was a respite for Prince. The breeze was cooling the air temperature but not the trail itself and he was rushing for shade to shade to cool his paws. I felt so bad. We had shade all the way to the water so it would only be a problem on the way back again. I was hoping a good soak in the cool stream would help.

Below, ah water. Prince immediately went to the water and lay in it. He spent about 3 minutes just licking at the water and cooling off. I'm going to make him some foot pads for walking in the desert and walking on the street.

Apart from the hot sand, it was a beautiful day to get out and wet our feet. And below I actually saw a flower to photo.

Make a great day!!
